Between fetishisms and expropriations: challenges for social theory

Abstract
The article offers an analysis that can contribute to the recovery of Marx's thought in sociology. Starting from the discussions presented by Esteban Torres on the three motors in social theory, we highlight the importance of the attention paid to the different levels of abstraction from which capitalist socialisation is analysed. We then elaborate a critique of the absence of the category of fetishism. Our hypothesis is that this suppression undermines the critique of political economy, blocking the analysis of the succession of expropriations that characterises the contradiction between formal identity and material non-identity.
