Efficiency of Oleogels Based on Soybean Oil and Castor Oil as Makeup Removers

Keywords: Vegetable oil, Oleogel, Makeup remover, Chemical industry

Abstract

The objective of the research was to compare the efficiency of oleogels for cosmetic purposes made from vegetable oils (soy and castor). The oils were characterized according to the standards COVENIN. 12-hydroxystearic acid (12-HSA) was chosen as the gelator, using the same concentration for both oils. From these oleogels, a makeup remover was formulated, determining its viscosity, stability and removal power. According to the results obtained in the characterization, both oils can be used for cosmetic purposes; in terms of the evaluation of the formulated products, with the removal power and the stability test, it was shown that the prototypes are capable of removing makeup with good efficacy and that they will maintain their stability over time.
