Didactic Strategies for Kichwa Language Learning. Theoretical and Practical Approaches
Abstract
The general objective of this research article was twofold, since it consisted of examining and proposing effective didactic strategies for the teaching and learning of the Kichwa language, considering both its theoretical foundations and its practical applications. In methodological terms, an exhaustive literature review of previous studies on the teaching of indigenous languages, specifically Kichwa, was carried out. In addition, classroom observations and interviews were conducted with Kichwa teachers and students at different educational levels. The data were interpreted using qualitative methods, such as diatopic hermeneutics. The results obtained show that effective teaching strategies, such as the use of linguistic immersion, task-based learning, the incorporation of cultural elements and the use of educational technologies, facilitate meaningful learning. It was observed that the combination of traditional and modern methods, adapted to the Kichwa cultural context, produces better learning results. The conclusions highlight that effective teaching of Kichwa requires a holistic approach that integrates language with Andean culture and cosmovision. Here, teaching strategies must be flexible and adaptable to different contexts and learning levels. To this end, ongoing teacher training in innovative methodologies is essential.
