Positive Psychology and Self-Confidence or Self-Concept of University Students: Systematic Review of the Literature
Abstract
The purpose of the article is to highlight the relevance of Positive Psychology in the development of self-confidence in university students and, consequently, to propose the inclusion of strategies on Positive Psychology in the structure and administration of the curriculum in university institutions. The method was the systematic review consisting in the use of a Prism diagram and an authorship table, which were prepared from information from indexed databases of the Scopus, Springer, Elsevier and Redalyc repositories. Articles were selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria by language, country, and age. After the collection and analysis of the information, it was determined that Positive Psychology provides students with a sense of life, perseverance and resilience so that they can meet their personal and professional objectives and goals. Students have a weak academic support from teachers, since they do not focus on emotional well-being, but this is left because it is not considered relevant. It is recommended that the university institutions assume the approach of Positive Psychology in the academic administration of the study curriculum, with emphasis on teaching and learning methodologies, so that they contribute to the well-being and mental health of the student.
