Conjunctival Fibrosarcoma: An Unusual Case with Inmunohistochemical Study
Abstract
Fibrosarcomas are rare, malignant fibroblast tumors. The age range for children is between 5 and 10 years old. It affects deep soft tissues in the lower extremities or trunk and may present with rapid and variable growth. Objective: A case of conjunctival fibrosarcoma is presented. Clinical case: Male patient 10 years old. Evaluated in ophthalmology consultation by volume increase in bulbar region of the lower eyelid of the right eye, a week of evolution and rapid growth. Lesion approximately 1.5 x 1.2 cm hardened and with conjunctival hyperemia. Results: Tumor resection was performed, measures 3.5 x 2.3 cm, external surface yellowish-white and dark brown spotlight. Biopsy and immunohistochemistry are processed, reporting KI-67 antigen in 60% reflecting proliferative tissue activity. Conclusion: Well-differentiated conjunctival fibrosarcoma with high mitotic activity. It is referred for oncological treatment with ophthalmology follow up.
