Author Guidelines

The JOURNAL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ZULIA publishes scientific articles that must be written in compliance with some guidelines that are indicated in this section. The magazine also admits interviews, book reviews, conferences, concise analysis of historical documents related to the history of science or the University of Zulia; For this, the journal has sections where these types of products are located. However, the main purpose of the journal is the publication of original and unpublished scientific articles, whose presentation must take into account the following guidelines:

-The works must include a summary of 150 words maximum and up to five keywords; both the abstract and the keywords will be in Spanish and English. Likewise, the title and subtitle of the work will also be presented in Spanish and English. The maximum length of the work will be twenty (20) pages, and ten (10) as a minimum length (except for fully justified exceptions).

- Body of the article. It will be divided into Introduction, Development and Conclusions (or Final Considerations, as the case may be). The introduction will include the general purpose or objective pursued. The Development will be organized into sections and subsections duly identified with subtitles fully numbered in Arabic according to the decimal system, responding to a continuous sequence and using a period to separate the division levels. The Introduction and Conclusion are excepted from this numbering. Dates and times will be expressed numerically. If there are illustrations (graphics, maps, photos), they must be referenced in the text. These illustrations will be counted within the maximum length of the article. Explanatory or clarifying notes must be reduced to the minimum necessary and placed at the bottom of the pages duly marked. The complementary materials will be collected in annexes, which will be identified with a letter and a title and will be placed after the bibliography. The annexes will also be counted within the maximum length of the article.

-The aforementioned will be made in the text using the author-date modality, established in the Regulations for the presentation of works at the University of Zulia, indicating, in case of being a textual citation, the author's surname (s), followed by a comma, year of publication of the work, followed by a colon and the number (s) of the page (s), for example: according to Rincón (1998: 45) or (Rincón, 1998: 45) ; if it is not a verbatim quote but a paraphrase, the page number will not be indicated, for example: according to Rincón (1998) or (Rincón, 1998). If there are several works by the same author published in the same year, they will be arranged literally in alphabetical order; for example, (Rincón, 2008a: 12), (Rincón, 2008b: 24). If there are two authors, only the first surname of each will be placed, for example: According to Morales and Fleires (2008: 90) or (Morales and Fleires, 2008: 90), following the same criteria explained above for textual citations and paraphrase. If there are three or more authors, the last name of the main author will be placed followed by “et al”, example: (Rincón et al., 2008: 45). Quotations from unpublished works or works in print, as well as references to private communications and documents of limited circulation, should be avoided as far as possible, unless strictly necessary. In the case of documentary, electronic or other sources that by their nature are unfeasible or complex for the adoption of the aforementioned author-date, suggested in these regulations, the one cited at the bottom of the page can be resorted to or chosen.

-Bibliographic references. References (bibliographic, hemerographic, oral and / or documentary) will be presented at the end of the text, as established in the Regulations for the presentation of works at the University of Zulia. The order of the references is alphabetical by surname. The different works by the same author will be organized chronologically, in ascending order, and if there are two or more works by the same author and year, the strict alphabetical order by title will be maintained.
