Abstract

Nowadays, the term "epistemology" has expanded its meaning and is used as a synonym for "theory of knowledge." Thus, specific theories of knowledge are also epistemology; for example, general scientific epistemology, epistemology of the physical sciences or the psychological sciences. Currently, epistemology can be defined as a discipline that has the purpose of explaining the origin, constitution, development and evolution of science, as well as its structure, its current situation and its perspectives.
