Analysis of mathematical discourse in the engineering classroom: gender perspective
Abstract
The article analyzes the role of explanations in the mathematics class, first semester of engineering, when the notion of variation is being used by three professors and when students intervene about this notion. Using a qualitative-interpretative approach, data collection is obtained from the recording of recordings and transcripts of class sessions that were analyzed. The participation of students and teachers is analyzed from a gender perspective that affirms that the relations between men and women can be explained when the different ideas and beliefs that societies elaborate are understood.
