Abstract

Some aspects of the democratic political culture are presented, discovered in the meanings built by individuals of the representative union organizations at the Universidad del Zulia-Venezuela. The epistemo-methodological foundation was qualitative, with a biographical focus, -Life Stories-, in the phenomeno-hermeneutics perspective. It was found that: a. political culture includes the following contexts: personal, family, relational, union, political, circumstantial and axiological, b. some regularities and patterns in the practices and day-to-day experiences from these are intertwined with respect to the system, and c. the construction of loyalties and political alliances with government officials. It is concluded that in the political culture of these individuals there are no elements that secure the consolidation of a democratic political culture that is “participatory and with protagonism” in Venezuela.
