ETHNIC RACIALIZATION IN THE SPANISH LABOR MARKET FROM A GENDER PERSPECTIVE.(THE DOUBLE SYSTEMIC INEQUALITY: WOMEN AND IMMIGRANTS)
Abstract
This article analyzes the situation of women in the labor market from a gender perspective. The research is descriptive and exploratory. A mixed methodology that combines quantitative and qualitative techniques was used. The results show not only an inequality in the labor market between men and women, but also worse working conditions between Spanish workers and those of foreign origin. It is the double discrimination: worker and immigrant, many of them with a great professional qualification but who hold jobs that do not correspond to their training. So, there is a certain ethnic racialization in the Spanish labor market. Our recommendation points to a necessary extension of the epistemological framework of gender discourses, surpassing the conceptual models established for the use of: white and Spanish women, due to the fact that immigrant women find greater difficulties in access and permanence in jobs. Hence the need to establish socio-labor policies that attenuate these labor asymmetries among the female labor population, regardless of their origin
