The Anatomy of Tomorrow: Why Research into the Future of Medicine Begins on Day One
Abstract
In a conversation between a first-year medical student and a first-year physician, the student discusses the feeling of overwhelm they experience at the start of their medical career. They express concern about the amount of theory and textbooks they must master, feeling that clinical practice at the hospital seems a long way off. The doctor, recognizing these feelings, uses the metaphor of a bridge to describe the path in medicine and student leadership. This bridge, he explains, is built on three fundamental pillars: culture, science, and technology.
