Blind citations
Abstract
Las citas que se utilizan en los artículos son una parte integral de los mismos, dando soporte a afirmaciones, comparaciones y datos. No obstante, a menudo esos trabajos citados no son leídos por aquellos que los citan, en el mejor de los casos la lectura se limita a los resúmenes recogidos en bases de datos o simplemente se citan al oído, transcribiendo lo que otros autores usan en sus introducciones o discusiones, o aplicando razonamientos lógicos, que no tienen por qué ser correctos. Esto, que es una evidente mala práctica científica, lleva a la introducción y perpetuación de errores en la literatura científica.
Para ilustrar este problema, voy a poner varios ejemplos, fáciles de constatar, usando un clásico de la temática de resistencia a antibióticos; seguro que la mayoría lo conocemos: La beta-lactamasa “TEM”.
