Endoscopic diagnosis of gastroesophageal reflux, importance of the classifications
Abstract
Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a very common chronic disorder. Classic symptoms are often diagnosed, but specialized tests such as endoscopy may be necessary in certain patients. The Los Angeles classification makes it possible to characterize the degrees of erosion of the esophageal mucosa. A normal endoscopy does not exclude gastroesophageal reflux disease.
