Archive or digital preservation policy

The journal Divulgaciones Matemáticas adopts a digital preservation policy that guarantees access to digital files, through a management process that maintains their long-term availability, which guarantees access to files even when formats and technologies evolve. To this purpose, we use the plataform Zenodo.org and a set of activities has been designed to keep this preservation process up-to-date and active, through:

  1. Evaluation of the preservation value: It is carried out through the training and awareness of the personnel involved in the preservation process.

  2. Identification: A code system is used to maintain the organization and privacy of the stored information.

  3. Verification of the integrity: A periodic review is carried out to verify the integrity of the stored documentation.

  4. Content classification: The content is classified according to pre-established patterns.

  5. Assurance of sustainability: The digital preservation policy includes mechanisms that guarantee the sustainability of the stored documentation over time.

  6. Adding metadata: The information to be preserved is packed together with descriptive metadata.

Among the mechanisms of the journal's digital preservation policy are:

Hardware

  • Use of virtual servers and services to make optimal use of existing hardware and guarantee expected performance.

  • Availability of high-performance professional servers, equipped with redundant systems in storage devices and located in different geographical locations.

Software

  • Policies defined for updating the journal's platform.

  • Use of operating systems and software-based applications.

  • Constant updating of operating systems and applications.

  • Strict policies for safekeeping systems.

  • Use of defined and software-based text editors.
