Needlework: Language of Women Artists

Abstract

This research aims to review the history of needlework techniques on the art scene. A collection and documentary analysis of graduate work, plastic proposals, articles and other documents were submitted, covering topics such as textile art, women artists and, above all, traditional weaving applied to art scene. The history behind the works is presented, their possible origins, their beginnings in art, and the history developed by the artists who practiced them, as well as the proposals that have emerged from the nineties to the present day. Finally, an analysis of the Guzman period is included, as the only historical background that allows us to show the work of women and how they tried to bring their techniques to the same level as painting and sculpture.
