The impact of university social service on sustainable development goals

Abstract

Social service in México is an activity that has been in force for more than 70 years and is performed by all students as a university requirement. The objective was to analyze how the social service of the young people of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Mexico impacts on higher education and collaborates in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The methodology was of mixed approach, the quantitative and qualitative phenomenological design and cross-sectional quantitative, the instruments were a digital survey and interview applied in September 2022. The results highlighted the fact that 72.4% of the interviewees were women. Concluding that students do find in the Social Service enriching learning for their professional development that allows them an upward socioeconomic mobility and promoting the welfare of all. This has a positive impact on SDGs 3, 4, 5 and 8.
