Time and Memory: “Omens of life and omens of death in memory of my sad whores by Gabriel García Márquez”
Abstract
This article deals with Memoria de misputastristes, the work of the
distinguished writer Gabriel GarcíaMárquez, as the leisurely, sober and
contemplative style and memory and time become resources par excellence
of the Garcia Márquez pen, presenting the character of the work in two
instances: life and death, but both as omens. To support the study we have the
following theorists and methodologists: Georgescu, 1989), (Hall, 1996),
(Alonso1953), Lotman (1970)y Spitzer (1982).They immerse us in their own
theoris and methodologies to analyze from stylistics and semiotics all those
stylistic constructions that Gabriel GarcíaMárquez uses to draw the lands of
time and memory and his omens. It is assumed that apart from style and life
death, one of the greatest contributions of the work is that it poses two visions
of old age, using memory and time: the Eastern and the Western perspectives
of contrasts and style, supported by semioticconstructs and their examples.
