Abstract

The present work aims to demonstrate the epidemiology of COVID-19, in the southern area of Manabí, since the impact that this disease has caused in this town is unknown so far. The incidence in Ecuador, specifically Guayas and Manabí, is analyzed to compare its epidemiology. A descriptive documentary study was carried out, using articles retrieved from scientific databases, a search for information was carried out in the epidemiological bulletins of the country's MSP. It was evidenced that the epidemiology of COVID-19, in the southern area of Manabí, Jipijapa has been the most affected canton, with 324 (61.25%). The rest of the cases were distributed in Paján 130 (24.57%) and Puerto López 75 (14.18%). The male gender resulted with a frequency of 54.10% of the confirmed cases, and the age range that predominated was 29 to 49 years (59%). The impact of COVID-19 in Manabí has been continuous since the beginning of the pandemic, but significantly lower. Guayas and Pichincha currently occupy the first two positions. In the South of Manabí, Jipijapa ranks first in affectation, tripling the casuistry of confirmed cases in the rest of the south of Manabí
