ABSTRACT

Modern agriculture proposes alternative biotechnology for the control of plant diseases produced by soil fungi, the use of the Trichoderma antagonist being one of the most promising and viable tools due to the versatility and adaptability to different agro-ecological zones. In order to evaluate the in vitro biocontrol effect of native and commercial Trichoderma on phytopathogenic fungi of soil of plantations of the parchita (Passiflora flavicarpa) plantation of Sucre municipality, Zulia State. An essay was established in the Laboratory of Agricultural Microbiology of the Faculty of Agronomy of the University of Zulia. The phytopathogenic fungi and native Trichoderma strains present in soil samples were isolated through the technique of plate dilution and trap culture in rice grains. The antagonistic activity was evaluated by the disc technique, determining the growth of the free and dual growth of the antagonists, the degree of antagonism and the percentage of inhibition of the radial growth of the pathogenic fungus (PICR). The isolated Trichoderma fungus exerted an effective biocontrol on the phytopathogenic fungi isolated from the rhizosphere of the parchita culture showing an antagonistic activity with degree of inhibition of 1-3 and PIRC values of 51-78% in comparison with the commercial strain whose PICR values oscillated between 30-50.8%. The use of native strains of Trichoderma is seen with a high potential biocontralador in the cultivation of the parchita in conditions in vitro, nevertheless it is necessary its correct incorporation in field conditions in production systems and agro-ecological conditions.
