Abstract The purpose of this investigation consisted to analyze the teaching action in the teaching of Biology, in topics related to Evolution, Genetics and Ecology. The methodology was characterized by being qualitative, using educational ethnography as a method of approach. Data collection was done through techniques like direct observation of non-participants of Biology classes, semistructured interviews and analysis of classes’ plans. Descriptive matrices were constructed through methodological triangulation. Among the most important findings, we have that the structural elements represent the backbone of the teaching action taking a series of phases to teach Biology, which are planned, executed and socialized by the teacher, nevertheless, there is no transformation of the teaching action The follow-up of this investigation is recommended in relation to the transformation of the teaching action.
