Abstract

The present work corresponds to a descriptive investigation of the participation of the parents in the academic performance of the students of the basic cycle of the Escuela República de Israel in Santiago de Chile. The study aims to establish the reasons for the low participation of parents in the teaching-learning process of their pupils and to identify the deficiencies in knowledge of habits and study tools that they handle, and that affect academic achievement. For this purpose, 4 students were selected per
year from the first basic cycle of both days and who had poor school performance. The underperforming students in 1st grade were followed up to 2nd year, applying direct observation, personal interviews with students, parents, and teachers. The findings found show that the students do not present study habits, that their parents have limited time to worry about this activity so relevant for the future of their children. On the other hand, the parents consider that the rules of the schools and the participation
in the teaching-learning process should be more rigorous in their application.</p>}, number={2}, journal={Impacto Científico}, author={Mota, Katihuska and Arcos, Genaro and Farías, José Andrés}, year={2020}, month={nov.}, pages={408-417} }
