Resumen
Hace algunas décadas, se pensaba que la Amazonía era una región de naturaleza virgen hasta la llegada de los europeos hace unos 500 años. En este paraíso perdido, los visitantes encontraron humanos “congelados en el tiempo”, nobles salvajes que no habían sido desviados de la felicidad por la civilización. Durante décadas, la investigación ha desacreditado estas ideas (Denevan 1992, Mann 2005). Un libro notable es el último clavo en el ataúd del mito de la virginidad: una obra que reúne la fuerza de una enorme cantidad de datos difíciles de obtener en una síntesis pionera.
